HEATTREAMENT AT 83MEC
Overview of heat treatment
- Heat treatment creates metal/alloy products with desired mechanical properties and properties by three main factors. These three factors are performed sequentially and with different indexes and times, forming materials with different properties, namely:
– Temperature
– Heat retention time
– Material cooling
- Heat treatment of materials is accomplished by heating a metal or alloy to a standard temperature and ensuring that the material does not liquefy. Then, maintain that temperature level for a period of time (the length of time to maintain the temperature depends on the material’s mechanical properties). Finally, proceed to cool the material. As a result, the starting materials undergo chemical composition changes.
- The heat treatment method helps to increase the advantages of hardness, prolong the service life, and improve the durability and wear resistance of the material. Heat treatment can fully harden and can also increase surface hardness. But still retain the inner toughness of the material.
What heat treatment methods does 83MEC apply?
There are four heat treatment methods that 83MEC applies to the machining process: annealing, normalizing, quenching, and tempering and two combined heat treatment methods: chemical heat treatment and mechanical heat treatment.
